Running for Director of the NCIHC Board of Directors
My name is Olena Hart. I am a Core Certified Healthcare Interpreter, a project manager in the language access industry, an advocate for interpreting as a highly skilled profession and a motivational advisor for new immigrants navigating their career path in the United States. I have been a loyal NCIHC member since 2021. In March 2022 I joined the Communications Workgroup within the Outreach and Membership Committee. As the head of the workgroup, I am responsible for the majority of member-facing communications, including but not limited to, press releases, promotional emails, podcast blurbs, official statements, etc. I have run twice before, but wasn’t elected. This is my third try. Will it be a charm? I hope so. The reason why I am not giving up and keep on going for the Director position is my belief that I could be useful in promoting NCIHC more efficiently. In my view, it is time to reinvent the ways our nonprofit organization is connecting to its members. I would love to see more live interaction with the public at large, more new members and volunteers engagement, more ways to advocate for LEP language and civil rights. What do you think about initiating and supporting monthly or bimonthly online ‘get-together’ meetings for members to discuss our language access issues, exchange opinions, share insights, stay in touch, network, and provide support to each other? I believe that creating a NCIHC community experience is important for people to feel heard, appreciated and motivated at their jobs. Belonging is a key component of any organization or company growth.
