Debbie Lesser Treasurer
DEBBIE LESSER
Running for Treasurer of the NCIHC Board of Directors

I learned sign language through the Deaf communities of the Northeast and have been a nationally certified interpreter since 1999. I hold a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a master’s degree in Healthcare Interpreting.

As Director of Language Access Services for one of Georgia’s largest health systems, I oversee medical interpreting and translation operations across 500+ care locations, integrating language access into the organization’s quality, compliance, and patient experience goals. My work emphasizes systemwide inclusion of interpreters, qualified bilingual staff, and technology to ensure safe, equitable care.

My leadership experience includes serving as President and Treasurer of the Georgia Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf and as Treasurer for NCIHC since 2022. I seek re-election to continue strengthening NCIHC’s fiscal sustainability and advancing its mission to promote equitable healthcare communication for all. It remains an honor to serve this vibrant community of language access professionals.
