Who Is Eligible to Serve?

Candidates for the NCIHC Board of Directors must meet the organization's membership and eligibility requirements.

General Requirements

  • Be a current NCIHC Individual, First Year, or FRP member in good standing.
  • Meet the required minimum membership period of three months.
  • Be willing to fulfill the responsibilities of the position and serve the full term.
  • Comply with applicable Board policies, including conflict-of-interest requirements.
  • Meet the term-limit requirements established in the NCIHC bylaws.

Organizational Membership: Representatives of NCIHC Organizational Members may run for the Board only if they also hold an eligible Individual or First Year NCIHC membership. Organizational membership alone does not establish eligibility.

Three-Month Membership Requirement: Candidates must have completed at least three months of NCIHC membership by the date they are nominated, whether through self-nomination or nomination by another member. Individuals who convert from organizational to individual membership may count their prior organizational membership toward this requirement and do not need to complete an additional three months.

Additional Requirements

  • Vice President: Candidates must have previously served on the NCIHC Board of Directors.

  • Secretary: Previous Board service is not specifically required.

  • Director: Previous Board service is not required.

Term Limits

NCIHC Board members may serve up to three consecutive two-year terms. Members who reach this limit may run again after one year off the Board.
