This year The National Council on Interpreting in Healthcare, a nonprofit organization, celebrates its 25th Anniversary.  The theme is “NCIHC’s 25th Anniversary: Going Back to the Future”.  We will feature a throwback to 25 years and the state of language access in health care, while we visit present-day health care interpreting and then we will jump into our time machine and envision the future of language access and healthcare interpreting.

Melanie Fontes Rainer, Director of the Office for Civil Rights at the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services will be the Keynote Speaker. She leads the Department’s enforcement of federal civil rights and privacy laws and directs related policy and strategic initiatives.

The purpose of hosting a Language Access Congress is to expand participants’ knowledge with up-to-date information on the latest developments in the field, to brainstorm and to network.  The Congress offers a varied program, including a panel discussion by some of the NCIHC founders, workshops, Language Access Cafés and panels! We are excited to receive nominations for this year’s Language Access Champion who will receive the award during the Congress.   We are excited to receive nominations for this year’s Language Access Champion, who will be announced during the Language Access Congress. Our evening informal gathering on September 28th will feature music by Edna Vazquez, https://www.ednavazquez.com/, a professional performer, currently on a world tour with the renowned band Pink Martini.

Remember what Doc Brown says in "Back to the Future Part III,

"Your future hasn't been written yet. No one's has. Your future is whatever you make it, so make it a good one."

Don’t miss this epic Language Access Congress that weaves the past with the present and the future.

Registration will open in July 2023
